DRDC Principal Investigator Barbara Schneider discussed the intersection of scale-up research with research on student career formation at the Fifth Annual NSF ITEST Summit that took place February 4–6, 2008 in Arlington, Virginia. She argues that obtaining better evidence on what motivates career choice among diverse student populations is needed to address an emerging acute labor shortage in STEM fields. Click here for a PDF version of her presentation.

The Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program was established by the National Science Foundation to increase the supply of workers in information technology fields by funding projects to help both students and teachers acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. You can obtain more information about ITEST by visiting its Learning Resource Center or by reading the ITEST Program Snapshot. Information about the ITEST Summit, including video archives, will be forthcoming.
